Fiber Optics Technology

OM3 + OM4 Multimode Fiber

OM3 and OM4 multimode fiber are the two most used forms of Fiber Optics in the creation of Local Area Networks (LANs). Both OM3 and OM4 are laser-optimized 50/125 multimode Fiber Optics and are built with the same connectors, terminators, and transceivers (which are vertical-cavity surface emitting lasers, or VCSELs, that can emit light at upwards of 850 nanometers). The major difference is bandwidth; OM4 can transmit data at upwards of 4700MHz-km, whereas OM3 has 2000 MHz-km capability.

Armored Cable and Enclosures

Fiber Optics are only as efficient as the cabling they are contained within, and if installed in inhospitable conditions, these cables can quickly deteriorate. Armored Fiber Optic cabling and enclosures ensure that your valuable data transmission can run seamlessly regardless of where your Fiber Optics must be installed. Single and Multimode Fiber Optics

Single and Multimode Fiber Optics operate in a similar fashion by reflecting light repetitively within their glass cores. The construction of Single and Multimode Fiber Optics, however, is very different. Single-Mode Fiber Optics operate by sending one beam of extremely focused light, while Multimode sends numerous sources simultaneously within the same glass fiber. While both have practical applications, Multimode has enhanced bandwidth, which is advantageous for faster speeds and efficiency.
